This year’s standout jacket, the Haakon Tactical Parka marries the best in design and expedition-grade performance to make for a jacket that instills confidence regardless of setting.

Fully waterproof, windproof, breathable and filled with RDS-certified 850 fill goose down, Shackleton’s Antarctic expertise is clearly evident in the Haakon’s DNA. Traditional high-end features combine with impressive specifications like the 100% recycled, bluesign® certified monofibre fabric, soft to the touch but engineered to withstand prolonged rain, wind and snow. Mechanical stretch also increases freedom of movement to ensure comfort when active.

Versatility is central to the Haakon’s design with velcro fastenings, waist tension and pit zips all allowing for quick and effective parka optimisation and being part of Shackleton’s new Adaptive Layering System it can be easily combined with a jacket, such as the Ronne, or Ross gilet for an even wider range of comfort, no matter how low the temperature gets.

The versatile nature of the Haakon is further underlined by a number of storage options. Sleeve patch pocket, micro fleece lined hand warming pockets and large drop pockets offer practicality whilst contributing to a bold and functional geometric aesthetic. Double placket, crevasse grab handle and a fully adjustable snorkel hood with reinforced wire visor and synthetic fur ruff complete the feature set.

WARMTH

Expedition-grade weather protection graded to -10°C. Adaptive Layering compatibility allows for the addition of a down mid-layer which adds more insulation when needed in extreme conditions.

WATERPROOF

20,000 mm hydrostatic head with a C-zero durable water repellent finish. Fully seam sealed.

WINDPROOF

Windproof to 0.2 CFM, the hardshell fabric and full seam sealing means that this jacket will protect you from the harshest wind speeds.

FILL POWER

850 down fill power, down is the ultimate insulation in terms of warmth-to-weight and warmth-to-compactability ratios.

100% RECYCLED

Made with a 100% recycled 3-layer monofibre fabric, soft to touch with with mechanical stretch for optimal movement.

BREATHABILITY

Fabric membrane has highest breathability rating of 20,000 g/m2/24hr, allowing sweat and moisture to be transported away from the body and out from the parka.

DOWN

Down fill is made up of 90% down, 10% feather.

Fabric is a bluesign® certified monofibre, which can be recycled again at the end of its life.

ERGONOMIC CUFFS & fastening

Sculpted cuffs protect the knuckles from rain, wind and snow, while velcro fastening allows for easy adjustment.

Merino Storm Cuff

Recessed storm cuffs provide protection from windchill and heat loss.

Hidden Waist Adjuster

Waist adjuster is hidden under the flap of the front pockets so that the garment can be cinched in at the waist without opening the jacket and losing body heat.

External Lower Patch Pockets

Large hip pockets feature a gusset for extra volume, and grosgrain grab tabs on pocket flaps ease pocket opening when wearing bulky gloves.

Side Entry to Patch Pockets

Lower patch pockets also have side zipper entry lined with micro fleece for warm touch.
