The limited edition Centenary Collection has been released to mark the 100 year anniversary of Shackleton's death in 1922.
The Hero is Shackleton’s most successful knitwear product and has received consistent high praise since its launch four years ago. It seems to quickly become the favourite sweater of every single man who has one because it does everything a good sweater should. It’s super-warm, it’s soft and comfortable to wear and it looks terrific - the right combination of smart and rugged.
The Centenary edition is made in Italy in new and classic colours and carries the signature ‘E. Shackleton’ on the hem label.
The design of this classic roll neck is inspired by the iconic basketweave sweater worn by Ernest Shackleton throughout the Endurance expedition of 1914-17. It is crafted in Italy from the softest and most sought-after lambswool on earth, Geelong. This 100% natural fibre is produced from a unique breed of Australian sheep and has a softness and warmth that rivals that of cashmere. Even men who would not normally choose a roll-neck have found this yarn to be a revelation- not the least bit scratchy or itchy to the neck.
The Centenary Hero is non-allergenic, highly breathable, lightweight and carded during production to trap air for increased insulation. Furthermore the natural fibres of Geelong are incredibly strong given its silky touch - the Hero sweater is remarkably durable and will hold its shape for years to come.
