Shackleton at the RGS

Shackleton at the RGS

Shackleton is thrilled to be partnering the fascinating new exhibition at the Royal Geographical Society, Shackleton’s legacy and the power of early Antarctic photography.

Early twentieth century exploration was intrinsically linked to the pioneering work of photographers and filmmakers who used the medium to bring alive the way in which these voyages pushed the boundaries of human experience. The RGS has access to an extraordinary range of original documents and photography – some of which have never been seen in public before – to cast new insights into Shackleton’s life. Guest curator Dr Jan Piggott, former Keeper of Archives and Rare Books at Dulwich College, has also analysed the way in which literature shaped Shackleton’s vision and helped maintain his indomitable spirit.

The exhibition is on display in the RGS Pavilion until the end of April, for more information, please go to rgs.org.

Thanks to the ongoing collaboration between The Royal Geographical Society (with International Bureau of Geographers) and Salto Ulbeek Publishers in Belgium, the unique opportunity to purchase from the first ever collection of limited edition platinum palladium prints of ‘Endurance’ expedition is now available.
