PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION
Shackleton and Leica Camera AG host Capture The Extreme 2024, a photography competition that celebrates the incredible individuals, landscapes, wildlife and weather events of the planet's most extreme reaches.
The tough conditions of these remote corners often lead to unforgettable moments. These are the moments are the competition's focus (whether captured in previous years, in a faraway country or more locally). To operate in these places, to get the shot, to gather the data, to reach the summit requires great resilience and courage.
The winners have been chosen by our esteemed judging panel of Leica Ambassadors, photographers, explorers and directors. Learn more about the overall winner and category winners here. With hundreds of entries submitted to this year's Shackleton x Leica Photography Competition from extremes around the world, choosing one winner and four category winners was no mean feat. As we announce the results of the 2024 ‘Capture The Extreme’ Photography Competition, we also launch the Explorers’ Choice Award and invite you to cast your vote for a winner.
The Explorers’ Choice Award puts the spotlight on the 25 Highly Commended images that were in the running right until the final decision. The submission with the most votes will receive a Frank Hurley Field Jacket once it is released. Tap the button below to see the results.
Shackleton and Leica would like to thank all the photographers who entered the 2024 Capture The Extreme Photography Competition. For more inspiration, see the 2020 and 2021 Capture The Extreme results.
