BOOK A 30-MINUTE INTRODUCTORY CALL WITH OUR CHALLENGES TEAM TO FIND THE RIGHT SHACKLETON CHALLENGE FOR YOU.

The life-changing alternative to the annual ski trip.

At Shackleton, we understand the value of shared experiences and the joy of conquering challenges together. For the first time, all Shackleton Finse Challenges can now be booked privately by groups of three or more. Private Challenges offers families and groups the ability to elevate their winter experience from the repetitive annual ski trip and do something totally new and life affirming.

Each Private Challenge will have its own dedicated guide who will tailor the Challenge to the group’s needs. Whether that be pushing yourselves harder and further, creating indelible memories with children (14 and older) or working around particular health issues, any need can be met. If booking a Private Challenge for a larger group, a small discount is available also.

Only accessible by snow train with the nearest road 15 miles away, Finse is a true winter wilderness, a far cry from the crowded ski resorts of the Alps and Rockies. No prior experience is required, not even conventional skiing. During the week you’ll learn expedition skiing techniques and polar exploration skills, culminating in a mini overnight expedition across the tundra.

ITINERARY

REVIEWS

It was probably the best experience of my life so far. The ice crystals in my hair quickly melted, but my sense of personal polar pride remains at a plateau. By endurance we do conquer, it seems.

MEET YOUR GUIDES

We work with some of the very best polar guides, ensuring the highest possible safety, tuition and expertise on every expedition. Every Shackleton Challenge has at least two highly-qualified guides, led by Director of Expeditions Louis Rudd, and managed by Expedition Manager, Wendy Searle – between them they have accumulated thousands of miles on foot in polar regions. You will have several interactions with Wendy and Louis prior to departure, they will advise on pre-expedition training, kit recommendation and what to expect when on a Shackleton Challenge.
