Lou Rudd Gatwick Airport

Lou Rudd Returns To The UK

January 9th, Gatwick Airport, London

The Spirit of Endurance expedition has ended and Captain Lou Rudd is now back home in Blighty. At 10am on Wednesday morning, Lou emerged through the arrival gate at Gatwick Airport and was reunited with his family, friends and supporters. A happy mob was waiting as he came through, looking bearded and trim, and yet still unscathed at the end of his solo, unsupported and unassisted crossing of Antarctica.

Lou had spent the prior few days in New York, where he was granted the honour of becoming a member of The Explorers Club (he now joins the ranks of other storied explorers, like Edmund Hilary and Neil Armstrong), as well as appearing for interviews at the New York Times headquarters and CBS News.

Welcome home Lou!
