CHALLENGE OVERVIEW

As recently as 1786, the iconic 4,808m White Mountain had no recorded ascents.

Since then its iconic peak has achieved ‘must-climb’ status amongst adventurers worldwide. Our expert team will thoroughly prepare us for the summit attempt before taking on the ultimate goal.

This 5-day programme based out of our Chamonix HQ includes skills assessment and acquisition, and long treks to overnight stays – first near the 3542m acclimatisation peak of Aiguille du Tour, then at the 3167 Tête Rousse hut in preparation for our morning ascent of Mont Blanc. Some days will take up 8-10 hours, others a more relaxed 3-4.

Alongside a team of fellow experienced climbers, we’ll navigate steep snow, rocky ridges and ice through a variety of climbing styles. Shackleton's team of expert guides will lead us all the way to the summit and back for what will undoubtedly be among the most memorable and rewarding weeks in lives well lived.

Mont Blanc Summit Challenge

The entire Mont Blanc massif is the stuff of climbers’ dreams. There’s something inspiring in the air that infects everyone with vivacity and determination. Panoramic, once-in-a-lifetime views await us at the summit. These are only the first of the rewards.

STIMULATING ENVIRONMENTS, PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

Mont Blanc Summit Challenge

PUSH YOURSELF TO THE LIMIT

On summit day, we start early and maintain a steady pace. Our aim is to be out of sync with other climbers on the mountain and cross the Grand Couloir early in the morning while it’s still cold. Up the broad face of the Dôme du Gôuter to where we can see the summit of the Mont Blanc; a slight descent, then up to the emergency shelter of the Vallot hut at 4362m. From here we ascend a series of beautiful snow arêtes which snake their way over les Bosses and la Tournette, until gradually arriving on the whaleback summit of Mont Blanc itself – the full 4810m.

AUTHENTIC EXPEDITIONS

Every Shackleton Challenge has a central mission designed to develop the physical, mental and emotional strength required to access our untapped performance potential. While all challenges will stretch us to a degree, none will defeat us. We come through as a team.

SHACKLETON SPIRIT

Shackleton Challenges embody the enlightened leadership so central to the Boss’s own ethos, with empathy and encouragement at the centre. Our committed guides come with invaluable experience in tackling multi-day expeditions and a deep well of environmental wisdom and lively anecdotes. The contrast between daytime achievement and team-wide conviviality in the evenings is a distinctive feature of Shackleton Challenges that marks us out as different in kind.

LIFELONG RETURNS

The trials overcome will evolve into resources that you’ll draw on for the rest of your life, applicable to all kinds of situations where you’ll need to take the lead.

Memories made will abide. Like most of our Challenges alumni, you’ll probably stay in touch with the rest of the team.
