Join us to hear British Explorer Louis Rudd MBE share his 1000-mile winter route across the Himalayas on the new Royal Enfield Himalayan 450.
In 2023, British Explorer Louis Rudd MBE, Director of Expeditions at Shackleton, pioneered a 1000 mile winter route across the Indian Himalayas on Royal Enfield’s all-new Himalayan 450 off-road motorcycle. The three week journey across the region’s most remote and spectacular mountain landscape reached altitudes of up to 5500m. Every day, Rudd and his team faced the relentless challenges of extreme cold, perilous terrain and the world’s toughest expedition conditions. The journey took them on a route that crossed deep snow, sand dunes and even the frozen Pangong Lake, winding their way ever higher to an altitude above Everest Base Camp.
Join us at the Shackleton flagship store in London to hear Louis' first-hand account of this pioneering ride, and learn about the launch of the the Himalayan Challenge. This is a unique motorcycling expedition in summer 2025 - where you can experience the same intense freedom of adventure for yourself in this mythical setting. British adventurers, Chris and Julie Ramsey, have become the first people to drive from a magnetic north location to the South Pole and they have completed the journey in an all-electric vehicle. Join us to hear how they fared, from start to finish.
Back in June 2022 we announced that we were the official kit providers for the Pole to Pole EV Expedition, a world-first attempt to drive from the magnetic North Pole to the South Pole in an all-electric vehicle.
The Pole To Pole team, comprised of husband and wife explorers, Chris and Julie Ramsey, have successfully completed the Artic leg of their 17,000 mile journey. In the first of its kind expedition in an electric vehicle, the capabilities of both the car and the Ramsey's have been pushed to their limits.
"The Arctic is an unforgiving and treacherous place, and our journey was fraught with unexpected challenges and obstacles. We faced numerous setbacks and delays, from equipment malfunctions to unpredictable weather conditions. Yet, with each hurdle, we learned valuable lessons and adapted our approach, always keeping our end goal in mind."
In December 2024, Ananya Prasad will row 3000 miles solo from La Gomera to Antigua, join us to learn more about her world-first expedition.
In December 2024 Ananya Prasad will be embarking on an epic 3000 mile solo row across the Atlantic Ocean, as part of the World's Toughest Row. If successful, she will be the first woman of colour to ever solo row an ocean.
With zero nautical experience prior to signing up, Ananya's drive to push herself on a new challenge in the outdoors has evolved into a journey of representation. Born in India and raised in the UK, Ananya has always found there was a glaring lack of diversity in adventure sport. In undertaking this challenge she hopes to inspire more people of colour and women into adventure sport and rowing.
Ananya hopes that one day, women of colour participating in endurance events isn’t out of the ordinary, rather the norm. Join us at our flagship store at 214 Piccadilly in London to hear more about Ananya's upcoming expedition and motivations.
