CHALLENGE OVERVIEW

Put the Royal Enfield Himalayan through its paces in its natural habitat, dramatically improving your riding skills both on and off the world’s highest roads.

Few routes on the planet can boast a similar range of stunning scenery and technically demanding terrain. Led by our Director of Expeditions and the Royal Enfield team, we’ll experience the intense freedom of adventure in a mythical setting. We’ll lunch with monks and nomads: traverse soft sand, hard stone and thrilling ridge; discover what we’re made of and build a true expedition mindset.

This is a story we’ll all tell over and over.

Himalayan Challenge

Our starting point of Leh is a high-altitude crossroads of mountain cultures; winding alleys, historic palaces, Silk Road echoes. Once we’ve acclimatised, the expedition begins with a blessing ceremony - a traditional Himalayan puja - before we ride out over Khardung La, at 5,359m one of the world’s highest passes accessible with an engine. From there it’s one spectacular experience after another. We’ll ride 85 miles of rugged trail to Padum, a remote settlement where monks still chant in thousand-year-old monasteries: frontier territory, and a rare glimpse into a vanishing world.

Our experienced guides will ensure everyone develops the skills required to play a full part in the expedition effort. As confidence builds, the camaraderie deepens and team spirit grows stronger by the mile.

We’ll spend time amid the communities who’ve learned to respect these mountains for millennia. We’ll meet nomadic yak herders and share a Tibetan lunch with a Ladakhi family. A fireside talk on Himalayan geology and expedition history gives fresh perspective to the mountains we’re crossing.

Leh’s Grand Dragon Hotel makes a luxurious start point. En route, we'll stay in luxury lodgings beneath the stars, nestle among the vast green folds of the Nubra Valley, swim from luxury glamping pods by the water’s edge and end with a seven-course Himalayan feast at one of Ladakh’s finest restaurants. Expect award presentations and a fitting send-off to the expedition.
