MISSION:

To traverse a 1,000 mile route across the Indian Himalayas, with 25,000m of cumulative ascent, to an altitude higher than the summit of Mont Blanc and Everest Base Camp. By motorcycle.

In 2023, British Explorer Louis Rudd MBE, Director of Expeditions at Shackleton, pioneered a 1,000 mile winter route across the Indian Himalayas on Royal Enfield’s all-new Himalayan 450 motorcycle.

Now, Shackleton and Royal Enfield have partnered to launch the Himalayan Challenge - a unique summer motorcycling expedition. The route covers three geographically and culturally different areas in the Indian Himalayas - Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Zanskar. With towering mountains, 5,000m plus mountain passes, ancient Buddhist monasteries dotted through the valleys and a unique mix of Indian and Tibetan cultures and cuisines, this could be the best place to motorcycle in the world.
