We focus on achieving specific measurable improvements to minimise and compensate for any potential negative impact caused by our business.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
68% of all Shackleton outerwear styles are made from recycled fabrics.
We ship your orders in FSC certified recycled cardboard packaging with no plastic.
We do not use fur.
We reduce our carbon footprint caused from freight miles by primarily manufacturing our products closer to our distribution centre. Approximately 65% of our products are manufactured in the UK and Europe.
The Shackleton Medal for the Protection of the Polar Regions is judged and awarded annually. The prize is a £10,000 bursary to further the winner’s work.
SUPPLY CHAIN STANDARDS
The most effective way to guarantee our sustainable impact is to work with suppliers who are certified by credible governing bodies.

RWS
RESPONSIBLE WOOL STANDARD
This guarantees the traceability of the wool we use from farm to the finished product.
RDS
RESPONSIBLE DOWN STANDARD
This guarantees the traceability of the down we use from farm to the finished product.
GRS
GLOBAL RECYCLED STANDARD
This tracks and verifies the content of recycled materials in a final product. The standard applies to the full supply chain and addresses traceability, environmental principles, social requirements, chemical content and labelling.
GOTS
GLOBAL ORGANIC TEXTILE STANDARD
A comprehensive standard that makes a “full product claim” which sets detailed criteria for the entire textile supply chain.
BLUESIGN®

We use Bluesign approved fabrics which must meet stringent standards for pollution control and waste water management.
HUMANITARIAN STANDARDS
We work with third party audited factories that comply with laws and workplace regulations around the world. Our factories hold a range of internationally recognised standards and certifications, with our key manufacturing partner in Asia holding a Gold Standard WRAP certification. WRAP is an audit guide that sets out standards for human resource, health and safety, environmental and legal compliance.
THIS CERTIFIES THAT:
