WHY I TAKE IT

LEVISON WOOD

Writer, photographer, explorer and so on to a maximum of 15 words.

"I love the X it always keeps me dry when exploring the amazon, it packs down to a 10th of its size and is just phenomenal."

DESCRIPTION

Designed for advanced mountaineering, the Kruk is made by ELITE CLIMB, a small Polish workshop specialising in some of the lightest, toughest kit on the planet, bringing new thinking and innovation to traditional tools. Designed to perform across different challenges during an ascent, the carbon and kevlar shaft is curved for better grip further aided by the sliding trigger, while the sharp base point effectively penetrates snow. The detachable axe blade was designed with Polish high-mountaineer Artur Małek to climb steep terrain or ice fields up to IV UIAA grade. The specialist blend of carbon and kevlar is 70% lighter than steel, 40% lighter than aluminium, provides an unparalleled strength to weight ratio with the added benefit of corrosion resistance. At 57cm long the entire ice axe weighs just 370 grams.
