The Hero is Shackleton’s most successful knitwear product and has received consistent high praise since its launch.
It’s warm, soft and comfortable to wear and looks as good as it performs - the ultimate combination of smart and rugged. Made in the UK, the design of this classic roll neck is inspired by the iconic basketweave sweater worn by Ernest Shackleton throughout the Endurance expedition of 1914-17. It is crafted from some of the softest and most sought-after lambswool on earth, Super Geelong. This 100% natural fibre is produced from a unique breed of Australian sheep and has a softness and warmth that rivals that of cashmere. Even those who would not usually favour a roll-neck have found this yarn to be a revelation - not the least bit scratchy on the neck and a consistent warmth throughout.

Measurements:
Chest
Outline your chest with a tape measure and breathe normally. Notice the variations as you breathe and record the highest number.
Waist
Place yourself in front of a mirror with your waist clearly visible. Slightly tilting the torso to the side, visualise the formation of a crease, which indicates the position of the natural waist. Wrap the waist.
Hips
Outline with the tape measure the "wider" region below the waist, running parallel to the highest part of the glutes.
This item has a regular fit.
Each Shackleton piece is cut for the conditions it’s made for. See below our guide to our three fits: Active, Regular and Relaxed.
Regular Fit
Our classic Shackleton cut, true to size with room to move and to layer. It’s a considered shape that works as well in the field as it does during travel.
Active Fit
Cut close to the body for freedom of movement without excess fabric. It’s built for high-output days and efficient breathability.
Relaxed Fit
Generous through the body, with space for warmth and layers underneath. It’s made for cold days and layered comfort.
