The highest possible safety

Join team Shackleton as we cover up to 100km of one of the world's greatest hikes across challenging terrain, in the ideal season to do so.

The days will be both demanding and rewarding. Few places on earth combine the elements of mountain and ocean with such drama as this remote archipelago.

Our sunlit nights will be spent in a mix of luxury hotels, traditional cabins and mountain huts, shared with the team and Shackleton’s convivial guides. We’ll hike up to 20km each day, with steep ascents and descents, and snow and boulder fields underfoot. We’ll cross the intervening sea by fast RIB and passenger ferry; we’ll dip into hot tubs and arctic waters, enjoying 24-hour daylight and perfect seasonal temperatures between 10 and 20 degrees.

The final day will be a real test of nerve, with the chance to scale the jagged granite ridge of Lofoteggen - an eight-hour mission suitable for everyone who’s up for the challenge. There will be abseiling; there will be heart-in-mouth moments. We’ll come through all the better for it.

Invigorating Experiences, Personal Development

Just being in the Arctic Circle is a permanent thrill, and few places on earth have as much to offer as Lofoten in the height of the Northern hemisphere’s summer. As we hike and boat across the archipelago we’ll catch our breath in wonder on an hourly basis. For the more adventurous, the final epic ridge traverse with panoramic views – roped for safety, but still no picnic – will bring the lifelong satisfaction that only comes from pushing beyond our comfort zone to where life happens in the raw.

Spectacular Environments

Many of the most awe-inspiring sights are inaccessible except by hiking and climbing, and all the more memorable for the effort. As ocean swells crash against jagged mountains rising vertically from the sea, we’ll experience nature’s primal power and splendour. We’ll traverse mountain passes, hike among fjords and travel through them at exhilarating speed to access pristine remote beaches.

Cultural Immersion

Along the route, we’ll stay in some of Norway’s most characterful boutique dwellings. We’ll sample local produce from cabins balanced on rocks at the shores of the fjords, surrounded by endless skies and an abundance of wildlife. We’ll dine well on traditional Lofoten dishes, including the famous stockfish. We’ll find our time here stays with us.

A core part of the team
