Finse Expedition Challenge

The Finse Expedition Challenge is designed to develop and test both resilience and competence in all the elements required for a successful mission into the world’s extremities.

It takes place on the same plateau where Shackleton, Scott and Amundsen came to train for Antarctica. We’ll endure temperatures down to -20C with wind chill and experience isolation and fatigue, skiing up to 20km a day hauling a loaded pulk behind us. before setting up camp under the stars. You’ll return with advanced expedition skills, increased resilience, new friends made, courage reignited.

Finse Expedition Challenge

First base is the Finse 1222 hotel, named for its elevation above sea level.
After a convivial night and appropriately hearty breakfast, we’ll leave as a team from the hotel direct into the National Park - equipped to ski across frozen lakes, ascend glaciers and spend four nights camping on the ice.

INCREASED RESILIENCE

We’ll endure extreme conditions, skiing Telemark-style for up to eight hours each
day across challenging terrain. We’ll navigate our way through the wilderness, pulling our equipment behind us. We’ll set up camp each night in sub-zero conditions, survive on freeze-dried meals and keep our spirits up with conversation before sleeping with just a tent between us and a canopy of infinite stars.

Our guides will ensure everyone develops the skills required to thrive in the environment and play a full part in the expedition team. You’ll have the opportunity to lead from the front, assisting with communications and establishing camp.

Hotel Finse 1222 comes with magnificent views of the frozen Lake Finsevann and the Hardangerjokulen glacier beyond. The inside is as welcoming as only Norwegians know how: firewood, food, friendship, fulfilment and an encouraging portrait of Sir Ernest in reception.
We’ll return to this haven for a well-earned last evening together, featuring fabulous food that tastes better than ever and the sense of fulfilment that comes with testing your own limits and coming through as a team.
