Himalayan Challenge

A cultural education as much as a technical one

Immerse yourself in the communities that know and respect these incomparable mountains more than anyone.

In 2023, British Explorer Louis Rudd MBE, Director of Expeditions at Shackleton, pioneered a 1000 mile winter route across the Indian Himalayas on Royal Enfield’s all-new Himalayan 450 off-road motorcycle. The three week journey across the region’s most remote and spectacular mountain landscape reached altitudes of up to 5500m. Every day, Rudd and his team faced the relentless challenges of extreme cold, perilous terrain and the world’s toughest expedition conditions. The journey took them on a route that crossed deep snow, sand dunes and even the frozen Pangong Lake, winding their way ever higher to an altitude above Everest Base Camp.

Now, you can experience the same intense freedom of adventure for yourself in this mythical setting. Shackleton and Royal Enfield Himalayan have partnered to launch the Himalayan Challenge - a unique motorcycling expedition in summer 2025. Discover what you’re made of, build your expedition mindset and ride the ultimate path. Join Louis, Shackleton and the Royal Enfield team in the mountains of Northern India for a unique and unforgettable Himalayan experience.
